A drying agent used to reduce humidity inside a closed container, ARMOR’s silica gel Tyvek® desiccants keep humidity at this lower value for a period of time by attracting moisture from the atmosphere. Silica gel Tyvek® desiccant is ideal for temperatures above 120°F (49°C)(clay may give up moisture rather than pull it in at this temperature) and will adsorb about 40% of its weight in water vapor at 100% humidity.
Used mostly in industrial applications due to its economics, clay can adsorb up to 40% of it’s weight in water vapor(at 77°F (25°C) and 100% relative humidity. Silica gel works faster than clay as it can adsorb 15% of its weight in water vapor in 2 hours. The dust free Tyvek® pouch is strong and durable and prevents against punctures and tears.
